About

Come to the fourth annual HyoJeong FamilyFest, A day when we give thanks to God for the blessings and beauty of each returning spring with a worship service, music, games, food and fun for the whole family.

Belvedere Estate is one of several grand estates located in this storied corner of the Hudson Valley. Lyndhurst Castle is our neighbor, Washington Irving’s Sunnyside is just down the road, and Kykuit, the former Rockefeller family home is on a nearby hill overlooking the Hudson.

Our festival is a celebration of family. It is a day when we welcome the local community to join with us in a day of fun together. We begin at 10:30 with a morning service of praise and thanksgiving. After that the food concessions and games open, with a music festival throughout the afternoon back on the main stage. Its a day for families to come together to enjoy this historic part of the beautiful Hudson Valley.

The Estate is one of the most significant sites in the history of the Unification movement which the Rev. and Mrs. Moon founded. Belvedere was the venue for several of the early Unification movement's International Leadership seminars for prospective missionaries. It has since been the site of countless celebrations and Holy Days. Rev. Moon delivered weekly Sunday Sermons here for almost 30 years. Today Mrs. Moon encourages all of us to look to the future as a time of great hope for America and the world. Belvedere Estate is the home of our local congregation, the Belvedere Family Community.

Belvedere Estate

You are invited to take your own self-guided tour of Beautiful and historic Belvedere Estate. Follow the trail on your map. Make sure you visit:

  • The Tea Garden: modeled in a formal Italian style is a popular location for weddings.

  • The two massive rocks on the main hill were shipped from Montana by Dr. Cole, the original house owner. Rev. Moon later explained that he was making these rocks a special “holy ground” where earnest prayers could move heaven.

  • Agora House: Originally built to be a gymnasium for Dr. Cole's children, the light switch plates and radiator panels (and the ironwork front gates, remnants on display in the main house) were made by local craftsmen. They feature details from Washington Irving stories, which were Cole family favorites.

  • The Studio: Dr. Cole constructed a two-level building, intending for his wife, Katherine, to use it as a sculpture studio. The Moon's son, Hyo Jin created a full recording studio in this space. It is on the tour today, exactly the way it was left before his untimely passing.

  • The Greenhouse: The once-100-foot long greenhouse is sadly no longer in use. It was arranged so water pressure inside would cause windows to automatically open and close.  The massive structure remains, minus the glass.

  • The Lecture Hall: Dearest to our church's heart, the Lecture Hall is where Rev. Moon gave the vast majority of his sermons and addresses during his 30-plus year ministry in the United States.
